通过对阳朔旧县村的传统历史文化的调查，以及村里目前在经营和尚未经营的客栈民宿的了解及摸底，我们试图通过详细而精心的设计手段，避开常规民宿的设计手法，局部建筑运用以旧制旧的方式保留较小部分原来老建筑的百年沧桑回忆，把天光引进室内，地面重建并做防潮及调节器处理，天花屋顶加做保湿层，使建筑不在阴冷潮湿及黑暗。
空间布局设计：入口门户，甬道巷弄，天井院落，茶坊、手工坊、素食餐厅、厨艺坊、禅修静养室、上书房、针灸理疗处、会客厅、并备有6套各色高雅客房、1处阁楼，室内家具尽文雅朴拙之器，有古琴、挂画、闻香、品茶及花艺之道其内。小院小巷尽显桂北风情与自然之气结合。
老门黄昏，名号“艾院”。
